Los Angeles International (LAX) is the main airport in Los Angeles. Check out the details for your perfect arrival.

Los Angeles  is accessed by six major airports and various private airports.

Los Angeles International (LAX) is the biggest airport and handles the majority of the passenger traffic. The airport has nine terminals. There is a free shuttle bus that loops around all the terminals. If you prefer to walk, it will only be about 10 minutes between each.

In LA, having a car is essential for reaching spots outside of Hollywood and downtown; public transport to and from the airport are hard to find. Theres no direct train to the airport, though there are free shuttles to the Aviation Station on the Metro Green Line. If you prefer a taxi, it will take you to downtown L.A. for $45.00 and take about 30 minutes depending on the traffic.

The most comfortable option is to rent a car.  There are constant shuttles from the airport that take you to the rent car lots. You may rent them at the airport, though sometimes its hard to find availability of the car category that you need. It is common for the cheaper models to run out early in the day, so we recommend you book it in advance with the best possible fares. We offer you the best rates and options in our Car Rental Los Angeles section.

The other airports in the region are:

  • Long Beach Airport ( LGB)
  • Bob Hope (Burbank) Airport (BUR)
  • Orange County/John Wayne Airport ( SNA)
  • LA/Ontario Airport (ONT)
  • LA/Palmdale Airport (PMD)
