The Los Angeles Zoo (formally called the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens), was founded in 1966. The City of Los Angeles owns the zoo, all of its facilities along with the animals. All of the zoo´s employees are city workers.
Some of the shows that can be seen at the Los Angeles Zoo are the following:
California Condor Rescue Zone (CCRZ): The CCRZ is a space designed for children older than 6. Its a great environment where children can learn what it takes to protect condors in California.
World of Birds Show: All kinds of birds perform fantastic shows. You can see it on the weekends at 11:30am, 2pm, and 3:30pm.
Animals & You Program: 15 minute long animal close-ups.
Winnick Family Children’s Zoo: A petting zoo that lets visitors to get up-close with goats and sheep in an animal area known as Muriel’s Ranch.
Neil Papiano Play Park: The Neil Papiano Play Park is a space with climbable sculptures shaped as animals, a toddler area and a large picnic zone.
